PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file which enables reduction of the cost of manufacture by dispensing with a process wherein the base end parts of binding band pieces or a base plate having the binding band pieces provided integrally therewith in projection is fixed to a cover body by welding or the like, and which brings about no gap between the cover bodies in a plurality when they are put on each other in closed states and is not bulky in storing. SOLUTION: In the front cover part 3 and the back cover part 4 of the cover body 1, tongue-shaped pieces 5 and 6 are provided respectively in the places near the central part of the cover body 1 and through holes 7 and 8 are bored respectively in these tongue-shaped pieces 5 and 6, while the base plate 10 is provided with fitting leg pieces 11 projecting laterally and with the binding band pieces 12 which can project in the direction reverse to the direction of projection of the fitting leg pieces 11. A binding element 9 having this constitution is formed separately from the cover body 1. The base plate 10 of the binding element 9 being disposed in a free state between the tongue-shaped pieces 5 provided in the front cover part 3 of the cover body 1 and the tongue-shaped pieces 6 provided in the back cover part 4, the fitting leg pieces 11 of the binding element 9 are inserted through the through holes of the tongue-shaped pieces in either the front cover part 3 or the back cover part 4 of the cover body 1, while the binding band pieces 12 are inserted through the through holes of the other tongue-shaped pieces. Thereby the binding element 9 is fitted to the cover body 1.
