1,061,596. Gas storage containers. R. TEMPLETON, and B. S. CRONE. Dec. 9, 1964 [Dec. 18, 1963], No. 50012/63. Heading F4P. A toroidal vessel for containing fluids under high pressures comprises an inner shell wound with filaments (1) in a continuous progressive track such as EEEEE<SP>1</SP>E<SP>1</SP>E<SP>1</SP> helically with respect to the locus of the centres of the crosssections such as C and D in Fig. 1 (not shown). The filaments, which may be of glass fibre or mineral fibre or metal, are applied in two portions which lie across one another in equal density to form a symmetrical pattern. They are impregnated with a polyester resin, or epoxy resin or phenolic resin. The inner shell of the vessel on which the filament is wound may be of rubber, rubber compound or any elastomeric material impermeable to the contained fluid. |
