PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press forming apparatus of a simple structure and a small size. SOLUTION: A press forming apparatus conducts forming so that a hollow cylindrical elastic body (urethane) 56 fixed to a retainer 70 is pressed on a only deforming section 54 to be deformed to a prescribed shape out of a plate material 52 on a forming die 66 having pressing part copying a prescribed shape, the only deforming section 54 is deformed to a prescribed shape. A good forming example by this method is bending of a platy flange part, there is no need to press a whole platy body, accordingly, small drive force is enough.
