PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing method suitable for high speed printing. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a carrying section 112 carries a print medium 113, a print head 110 prints a character or a figure on the print medium 113 by driving print elements corresponding to a plurality of colors, a moving section 111 moves the print head 110 in a direction orthogonal to the carrying direction of the print medium 113, a plurality of image storing sections 109 stores information of each print element being driven or not at each position, a logic operation section 102 logically operates information to be stored in the image storing sections 109 obtain information of at least one of the plurality of print elements to be driven or not, an operation result storing section 114 stores obtained information in correspondence with the position of the head 110, a moving range obtaining section 102 obtains a range for moving the print head 110 from information stored in the operation result storing section 114, and a movement control section 102 drives the moving section 111 so that the print head 110 moves within the obtained range. |
