PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new halogen-containing aromatic compound by solving such a problem that a resin obtained by using the halogen-containing aromatic compound represented by 1,4-bis (bromodifluoromethyl) benzene as a raw material generates a halogen pollution by the halogen released on polymerization of the above compound. SOLUTION: This halogen-containing aromatic compound is characterized by having at least 2 (CH2)n(CX2)t-Bu groups [X is F or Cl, and in this case, Xs may be the same or different; t-Bu is tertiary butyl group; and (n) is 0-4]. The compound is e.g. a compound of formula I.
