PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new microbial cell for producing an enzyme for specifically oxidizing the hemiacetal hydroxyl group of a saccharide containing the hemiacetal hydroxyl group. SOLUTION: The hemiacetal hydroxyl group of a saccharide containing the hemiacetal hydroxyl group can be specifically oxidized by Acinetobacter baumannii No.7W2-3 (FERM P-17,631), Burkholderia cepacia No.24-2-1 (FERM P-17,632), deuteromycetes 28-2 strain (FERM P-18,103) or deuteromycetes DK-3 strain (FERM P-18,104). When the microbial cell of any of the microorganisms is cultured in a lactose-containing medium, the lactose can be completely converted into lactopionic acid as shown in the figure 1. |
