PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizing method able to attain efficient sterilizing effect and at the same time able to achieve energy saving and low temperature sterilization by specifying impressing conditions in pulsed electric field to a liquid, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: The method sterilizes a liquid 2 in a sterilizing part 10 under conditions satisfying the following (a) to (d): (a) -N.logD1>=5 by letting the shot number in the pulsed electric field Ep impressed to the identical liquid 2 be N, and the survival rate of the germs per a shot in the liquid be D1; (b) (τ.N.E2/ρ)<=150 by letting an electric field strength in the pulsed electric field Ep to be impressed to the liquid 2 be E [kV/cm], a pulse width be τ[μs] and a resistivity of a liquid be ρ [Ω.cm]; (c) N>=4 by letting a shot number be N; and (d) the electric field strength E satisfies 1.5Et<=E<=3Et by letting a threshold of the electric field strength, at which the sterilizing effect against the liquid 2 becomes zero, be Et. |
