PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine which is used for dental caries and periodontal diseases, uses a highly safe natural substance, has high antibacterial activity against bacteria causing the dental caries and the periodontal diseases, and has inhibitory activity against glucosyltransferase produced by a dental caries- causing bacterium, Streptococcus sobrinus, and further against collagenase produced by a periodontal disease-causing bacterium, Porphyromonas gingivalis, and to obtain an oral cavity composition and a drink or food which contains the medicine. SOLUTION: This medicine used for dental caries periodontal diseases is characterized by containing as an active ingredient an extract obtained from Garcinia mangostana L. in the family Guttiferae, preferably an extract obtained from the pericarp of the Garcinia mangostana L., or more preferably α- mangostin and/or γ-mangostin. |
