PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform H-V conversion at a high speed in a serial scanning recorder. SOLUTION: The serial scanning recorder for recording converted data while moving a recording head having a plurality of recording elements arranged in one longitudinal row in the raster direction comprises a memory means for storing raster data temporarily, an H-V converter for taking out a part of the raster data and generating image data in the vertical direction, and means for comparing the raster data with the image data in the vertical direction. The pattern comparing means compares raster data already written in the memory with image data converted in the vertical direction being written in the memory from now on and only when both data match each other, the image data in the vertical direction is not written but H-V conversion is performed. |
