PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the rigidity of a filter element without providing a metal cylinder inside and/or outside a filter part and to perform disposal after use properly and simply. SOLUTION: Reinforcing parts 41 are provided to pleated parts 13 on the outer peripheral side of a hollow cylindrical filter part 11 comprising a sheetlike filter medium provided with a large number of pleats (or the pleated parts 14 on the inner peripheral side thereof) so as to extend along the pleated parts 13. The reinforcing parts 41 have a rod shape and are positioned inside the pleated parts 13 and connected to upper and lower end plates 21, 23 and only the filter medium 12 can be separated from the reinforcing parts 41 and the upper and lower end plates 21, 23.
