PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document feeding device with no worry to damage a document and a mechanical part even when an upper side unit is opened and closed in a state where the document is placed on a document base. SOLUTION: This document feeding device is furnished with a document base 1 on which a document M is set, a feeding roll 2 arranged free to revolve and to feed the document M set on the document base 1 and a gate member 3 to regulate a head end position in the carrier direction of the document M set on the document base 1 and to release the regulation by following the revolution of the feeding roll 2 in the document carrier direction. Additionally, the gate member 3 is installed on a rotary shaft 2a of the feeding roll 2 through a resistant member 4 having a specified sliding resistance.
