PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tocopherol derivative excellent in stability, hydrophilic properties, etc., and capable of being applied to various cosmetics, medicaments, etc., because of being expected to have anti-oxidant action, melanogenesis- inhibiting action, skin-protecting action against the ultraviolet rays, seborrhea- inhibiting action, surfactant action, moisture-retaining action or the like, to provide an intermediate for the same, to provide a method of producing the same, and to provide various applications for the same. SOLUTION: The tocopherol derivative expressed by the formula (1) (R1, R2 and R3 are each -CH3; R4 is -C16H33 or -C16H27; R5, R6 and R7 are each a 1-4C alkyl; AO is a 2-4C alkyleneoxy, provided that, when m is 2 or more, OA's may be the same to or different from each other and may be arranged randomly or block-wise to form an addition polymer chain; m is an integer of 0-100; and n is an integer of 2-4).
