PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polyelectrolyte exhibiting high ion conductivity even at a low temperature. SOLUTION: The polymer is represented by formula (1) (wherein R is a 1-4C linear or branched alkylene residue; X- is a deprotonation residue of an acid; Y+ is a cation of a nitrogen-containing compound; Z is a residue of a monoethylenically unsaturated compound; m is an average number of moles added in branched chains bonded to the constitutional unit: -(RO)-constituting the main chain and is 2-20: n is 3-500; and p is 0-2). The solid polyelectrolyte comprises the polymer as an essential component.
