PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a little difference in rotary velocity during rotating an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder in the same direction, in a vertical solid/liquid separating device equipped with the outer cylinder which is of a perpendicular cylindrical shape and supported in a freely rotatable manner and the inner cylinder which is supported inside the outer cylinder in such a manner that it is concentrically rotatable and defines an annular separation chamber between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder. SOLUTION: The rotary drive part of the vertical solid/liquid separating device is formed of a first motor which drives either of the rotary outer cylinder or the rotary inner cylinder, a second motor which imparts the differential velocity, and a planetary structure which controls the differential velocity. The separating device is characterized in that a specified rotation speed difference is obtained between the rotary outer cylinder and the outer cylinder by using the differential velocity with the planetary structure.
