The method is for combination of an address list, of which at least several have a corresponding geographical location indication, and geographical data, such as built-up area, on a topographical chart. Of each of the built-up areas, the geographical centroid is calculated and all geographical location indications out of the address list are linked with the geographical coordinates of all built-up surfaces. This enables it to be ascertained whether a geographical location indication falls within a built-up area and whether a location indication falls within one of the built-up areas. This enables the location indication in the address to be coupled with the respective built-up area, by means of address and built-up area data being accommodated in a specific relative table.
