1,064,747. Haywafering. MASSEY-FERGUSON Inc. Oct. 29, 1963 [Nov. 5, 1962], No. 42522/63. Heading A2B. In wafering hay by feeding it to the entrance ends of an annular series of die cells and breaking of the extrusions of compacted hay as they emerge from the exit ends of the die cells, the hay is delivered to the wafering device from a hopper and supplied to the hopper a stream of air, at least a part of which is vented from one end of the hopper. The hay is fed in an air stream into hopper 38 containing an auger 56 which feeds the hay to radially disposed die cells 62. Air is vented from the other end of the hopper through perforated disc 64 which is clamped to the auger shaft and rotates therewith. The disc has two scrapers 76 which travel in advance of the two auger blades to remove hay which may adhere to the cylindrical wall of the hopper.
