PURPOSE: An expression vector for producing a recombinant protein in animal cells is provided, which is inserted with the gene of a desired foreign protein. Also, provided is a method for manufacturing the foreign protein in high yields by transforming animal cells with the vector followed by incubating them. CONSTITUTION: The expression vector pLEY comprises a promoter having a nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1 and the gene map shown in figure 2. The expression vector pLEY-CAT having the gene map shown in figure 4 is produced by inserting a chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) gene into the expression vector pLEY. The transformed E. coli JM109/pLEY (KCTC 0716BP) is produced by transforming E.coli strain with the expression vector pLEY-CAT. The foreign protein is produced by the steps of: inserting the foreign gene into the expression vector pLEY; transforming animal cells with the expression vector to produce transformants; and incubating the transformants to produce the foreign protein.
