PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooled NMR probe head having a temperature gradient in the Z-axis direction considerably reduced without damaging NMR measurement. SOLUTION: This NMR(nuclear magnetic resonance) probe head is equipped with an RF(radio frequency) reception coil device capable of being cooled to a very low temperature, and a room temperature pipe 4 for storing a sample tube extending in the Z-axis direction, and having sample material put therein to be inspected by the NMR measurement. The probe head is characterized by arranging a temperature adjusting means 11 enclosing the sample tube 6 in the radius direction and extending in the Z-axis direction between the RF reception coil device and the sample tube, namely, the temperature adjusting means 11 having almost perfect permeability to an RF field or having at least an absorption coefficient of less than 5%, preferably less than 1%, to the RF field. Therefore, the temperature gradient in the Z-axis direction is reduced simply and considerably without impairing the NMR measurement.
