PURPOSE: To provide the control device of an elevator saving the space for mounting a power storage device and appicable to the elevator having no machine room. CONSTITUTION: This control device of the elevator is equipped with a power storage means installed between DC bus bars between a converter and an inverter, storing a DC power from the DC bus bar in the regenerative operation of the elevator, and supplying the DC power to the DC bus bar in powering operation; and a charge/discharge means for controlling charge/discharge of the power storage device to/from the DC bas bur, and the power storage means is composed of a secondary battery and a DC-DC converter for controlling the charge/discharge of the secondary battery. The secondary battery is formed by connecting plural unit cells in series and installed in the four corners within a hoistway, the vicinity of a rail, or the vicinity of a cable within the hoistway.
