PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing method and a developing device in which developing performance is stabilized over a long term by controlling so that the amount of developer carried on the surface of a developer carrier in a developing area may be constant, and irregularity and the thickening and thinning of a thin line are eliminated by making image density constant, and to provide an image forming device, an image forming method and a multicolor image forming device to which the developing method and device are applied. SOLUTION: This developing device is provided with the developer carrier opposed to an electrostatic latent image carrier, a carrying amount regulating member regulating the thickness of a developer layer on the developer carrier, and at least a rotating member for stirring and carrying the developer. In the device, a relational expression between a distance A between the carrying amount regulating member and the developer carrier at a developer advancing part and the shortest space B between the developer carrier and the carrying amount regulating member satisfies a following expression 1.
