PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing a device which can prevent securely the occurrence of jam due to coiling round of a paper sheet by contacting the peeling pawl to or separating the peeling pawl from the surface of a fixing roll on the basis of conditions related to stiffness of the paper sheet, and which can realize high-definition of the image quality and a prolonged service life of the fixing roll by reducing the opportunity for the peeling pawl to contact to the fixing roll, as much as possible. SOLUTION: The fixing device is equipped with an upper and lower peeling pawls 48d and 49d set mutually changeably to the contact position and separating position with respect to the surface of an upper and lower fixing rolls 48 and 49, for peeling the paper sheet P from the surface of the fixing roll at the contact position, an upper and lower drive parts 48h and 49h for driving each peeling pawl to the contact position or separating position, a humidity sensor 61 for detecting humidity, a paper sheet specifying device 62 for specifying to kind of paper sheet, and a peeling pawl control part 60 for controlling the driving of the upper and lower drive parts on the basis of at least either of the conditions between humidity by the humidity sensor and the kind of paper sheet by the paper sheet specifying device. |
