<p>A water-tight fiberglass septic tank (200) is designed with integral ribs (4) for structural strength. In one preferred embodiment, the tank (200) is made in two unequal halves. The lower half (1), which is preferably flat bottomed, comprises the major portion of the tank and includes a bottom, two curved endwalls (202) and two sidewalls. The upper half (2) comprises a cover. This arrangement allows a horizontal seam to be placed above the waterline, thereby protecting the seam from exposure to sewage. At least one of the endwalls (202) includes a raised top portion that allows a pipe (25) to be located near the top of the lower portion. The endwalls (202) also allow for angled inlet (16) and outlet (18) pipe connections. The ribs (4) are preferably internal and hollow. In a preferred embodiment, a baffle (707) is located at a stepped rib (710) so that the rib (710) supports the baffle (707). In a preferred embodiment, a cylindrical molded tank is created on a mandrel. The tank circumference is stepped, which both provides for built-in stepped ribs (710) and eases removal of the tank from the mandrel.</p> |
