<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transport more effectively a small multimedia RTP packet by compressing a GTP (tunneling protocol)/UDP(user datagram protocol)/IP(Internet protocol) header in a UMTS core network. SOLUTION: The compression of a GTP/UPD/IP header including the header information on the GTP, UDP and IP based on the GPRS(general packet radio service) is negotiated with a GTP peer and the GTP/UPD/IP header is transmitted to the GTP peer. Then a compressed GTP/UPD/IP header is transmitted to the GTP peer. The compressed GTP/UPD/IP header includes a tunnel identifier field of its length shorter than 4 bytes or an expansion bit field showing presence/absence of an expansion field and a tunnel identifier presence field showing presence/absence of a tunnel identifier field.</p> |
