PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control tat has a 2-way communication function to control a plurality of kinds of devices and simplifies the procedures of the 2-way communication. SOLUTION: When a communication start key of the remote control is depressed, the remote control transmits an ID code transmission request signal to all devices within a remote control signal transmission range. The remote control receives all ID codes returned by devices receiving the ID code transmission request signal and selects any optional device among the devices to set its display and operation keys required for the operation of the device to control the device.
