PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prepreg insulation coil having an excellent insulation performance without the occurrence of a wrinkle and a void at the corner of an insulation layer. SOLUTION: The prepreg insulation coil for a rotary electric machine is formed with heat-compression forming by winding a coil conductor, setting the direction of a heat-shrink rateγ1 as the direction of winding, with a heat- shrinkable tape that is in relation that; when the thickness and width of a prepreg insulation tape using a heat-shrinkable material to a base material are respectively set as to and tv, when the height of a coil 8 which is coarsely compressed and insulated with the tape is set as H, the width of which as W and the periphery length of which as U, and the thickness of the insulation layer 9 after compressively formed is set as T (units in mm for all), and when the coil conductor 8 is wound up with the heat-shrink tape and a compression rate at the time of compression forming is set asα, one a heat-shrink rateγ1 or two directions intersecting in a flat face of the tape in the compression forming temperature is 0<=γ1<=t0/tW and another heat-shrink rateγ1 is 0<γ1 min<=γ1<=γ2max, andγ-2min= (1-α)[U-2(H+W)+8T]+2πT/[(1-α)U+2πT] andγ2max= 2παT/ (1-α)U+2πT].
