<p>An optical disk including a rewritable area and read-only information area, wherein (1) read-only information composed of control data is recorded in the form of pits in a track of groove and/or a track of land in the read-only information area, and the width of the groove in the read-only information area is less than that of the groove in the rewritable area, and/or (2) a rewritable area and a read-only information area are provided in each sector, read-only information composed of header data is recorded in the form of pits in a groove track and a land track in the read-only information area, the pits representing common data out of the recorded read-only information have different opening widths and/or depths and are radially adjacent to each other. Without impairing the high speed of the system, the area where the user records data can be ensured to be as wide as possible.</p> |
