PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup device with improves S/N, so that a dark current component will not be included in an amplification signal which is read in a signal line. SOLUTION: This device has a photoelectric conversion part for converting incident light into an electrical signal and accumulating it, plural pixels provided with transfer transistors for transferring the electrical signals accumulated in the photoelectric conversion part or reset transistors for resetting the photoelectric conversion part and a control means for switching the transfer transistors to off or the reset transistors. The control means makes the level of a signal applied to the control electrode of the transfer transistor or the reset transistor, when the transfer transistor or the reset transistor is switched to off to be smaller than the level of the signal applied to the control electrode of the other transistor, when the other transistor in the pixel is switched to OFF.
