PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle device capable of changing over a two-way clutch in the lock direction with a small force. SOLUTION: This axle device is provided with springs 32A and 32B capable of energizing a lever 3 for changing over between the lock and idling of the two-way clutch 2, in the normal/reverse direction so as to hold it in a neutral position. The two-way clutch 2 stores a plurality of engagement elements such as rollers between an outer member 4 and an inner member 5. The lever 3 is provided in a retainer 17 for retaining the engagement elements. It is also provided with a changeover switch 33 operating the spring 32B to change the angle of the lever 3 into the normal/reverse.
