The present invention is directed to processes and compositions for protecti ng host animals (e.g., chickens) from exposure to virulent infectious bronchiti s virus. In ovo administration of live, avirulent strains of IB at appropriate dosage levels on a per egg basis provides an effective and efficient vaccination having acceptable safety and efficacy features.
