摘要 PURPOSE: Provided is a material for contact lenses which is suitable as a polymer having biocompatibility and oxygen permeability, and to soft contact lenses. The soft contact lenses have the water content of, for example, from 15 to 35%, and excellent flexibility and oxygen permeability. CONSTITUTION: The material for contact lenses having excellent flexibility and oxygen permeability comprises a copolymer essentially comprising a siloxane macromer of component (A) which has the number-average molecular weight of from about 1,000 to 10,000 and is represented by the general formula(I), a water-insoluble monoolefinmonomer of component (B), and a water-soluble monoolefin monomer of component (C). The soft contact lens which is obtained by injecting to a mold in the shape of contact lens the components (A) , (B) and (C); copolymerizing the monomer mixture; and making the resulting copolymer contain water.
