The fuel supply system consists of fuel injection valves (1a to 1d) and a fuel pump (3), which incorporates a damping chamber (30), connected in the fuel inlet line (14), a discharge passage (20) and an electromagnetic valve (19) to open and close the discharge passage and to control the quantity of pressurized fuel delivered. The pump draws fuel from the inlet (13), through an inlet valve (15) to a pressure chamber, by means of a reciprocating piston. The pressurized fuel is then fed through the discharge valve (16) to the injectors.
