<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for performing multicasting by means of a large sized electric communication switching device which uses a data packet to carry out communication with total processing capability of level of a terabit per second. SOLUTION: A packet switching device 10A switches a packet from at least an input line to plural output lines and includes plural input interfaces 12 having an input port that is connected to an input line and an output port respectively, a network 14A which switches plural input ports 17 to plural output ports 19, plural output modules 16 and an out-band controller 20 which multicasts at least a packet sent from the input line to many output lines. An output module has plural inputs which are connected to the ports 19 and have plural outputs, and each output of modules 16 is connected to each output line. Then every pipe 18 has a path equal to each path that is led from each input line and can be connected to each output line.</p> |
