PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause a relief valve to be opened by a fail-safe operation and further prevent a refrigerant pressure at an outlet of a radiator from being abnormally increased, in the case that a pressure-responsive means is troubled in a relief valve for a super critical vapor compression freezing cycle device. SOLUTION: There is provided a relief valve for a super critical vapor compression cycle device in which the valve is opened when a pressure of refrigerant at an outlet of a radiator is more than a predetermined value and a pressure of refrigerant at the outlet of the radiator is restricted to a value less than a set pressure. This relief valve comprises a valve housing 10 having a relief valve port 15; a pressure-sensitive means 24 arranged in the valve housing 10 to respond against an upstream side pressure of the relief valve port 15; a relief valve body 29 driven by the pressure-sensitive means 24 and for opening or closing the relief valve port 15; and a fail-safe operating spring 37 for biasing the relief valve main body 29 in a valve-opening direction.
