PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat development recording method in which film peeling immediately after development is prevented and film peeling and scuffing are not caused when a film is hung on a viewing screen and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: In the image forming method, a heat developable photosensitive material having a photosensitive layer containing at least (a) an organic silver salt, (b) a photocatalyst, (c) a reducing agent and (d) a binder on the base and further having (e) at least one compound selected from epoxy compounds and an acid anhydrides in combination is heat-developed while leaving a front edge part of <=20 mm unexposed and holding <=500 mg/m2 residual solvent after coating and drying. In the image recording method, the heat developable photosensitive material is exposed using a laser scanning exposure system in such a way that the surface of the photosensitive material to be exposed and scanning laser light do not substantially make right angles.
