PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing mechanism of a protective cover for a portable telephone set which can perform an opening/closing operation of a slidingly opening/closing type protective cover with a simple operation and also with one hand. SOLUTION: This opening/closing mechanism of a protective cover for a portable telephone set is an opening/closing mechanism for a protective cover 3 which is attached to the telephone set body 2 of a portable telephone set 1 in a slidingly openable and closable way along the body 2, covers an operating part provided in the body 2 in its closed state and meanwhile, makes the operating part exposed to the outside in its opened state, and has a lock member 4 existing between the body 2 and the cover 3 and holding the cover 3 in the closed state and an elastic member 6 making the cover 3 slide in an opening direction along the body 2 by releasing the member 4.
