The shock absorber consists a transverse shield wall (12), designed to receive the impact of a shock load, and which is mounted to be mobile in displacement, in a longitudinal sense, relative to the vehicle structure (14, 18). The mounting consists of the means (16) to absorb the energy, which are fitted into a cavity (20), arranged in the vehicle structure (14), between it and the shield wall, so as to be compressed into the cavity, during a shock load.
