PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for reporting a status change generated on the transmitting side to the receiving side while packet transmission is performed by isochronous transfer while using the communication line of a bus system having no specified signal line for reporting the status change. SOLUTION: Data showing the status change are transmitted while being superimposed on data stored in the payload of a packet to be isochronously transferred. In the case of transmitting large quantity of data such as video data by isochronous transfer while using an IEEE1394 serial bus, for example, when video data for one pixel are transmitted while using 14 bits in 16 bits comprising the basic data unit of the packet, the data showing the status change are transmitted while using one part or all remaining 2 bits. On the receiving side, the data which show the status change, superimposed on the video data are separated and processed by application software 33. |
