<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting device in which LEDs are protected against damage even if a high voltage is applied, and a leakage current in restrained from flowing when LEDs connected in a matrix are dynamically driven. SOLUTION: A protective circuit 17 composed of Zener diodes 17a and 17b that are connected in series in a reverse polarity to each other and a green LED chip 25 are connected together in series. A protective circuit 18 composed of Zener diodes 18a and 18b that are connected in series in a reverse polarity to each other and a blue LED chip 26 are connected in parallel. A red LED chip 27 is connected to voltage correction diodes 21 and 22 in series. The protective circuits 17 and 18 not only block a reverse current but also enable a current to flow in both a forward and a backward direction to protect the green LED 25 and the blue LED 26 when an applied voltage gets excessive. The voltage correction diodes 21 and 22 raise the apparent forward threshold voltage of the red LED chip 27.</p> |
