PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set capable of reliably transmitting a call to its owner even when the portable telephone set is set in a silence mode. SOLUTION: In case of emergency liason, a calling source inputs a telephone number and a personal identification number from the portable telephone set of himself/or herself. When the call from the calling source arrives at a portable telephone set in a silence mode, a CPU 1 first decides whether or not personal identification number exists in the incoming data and decides whether or not the number is matched with a personal identification number registered in a RAM 3 when the number exists. When they are not matched with each other, incoming display is performed. When they are matched, an incoming tone generation instruction is outputted to an incoming tone generating part 11. Thus, an incoming tone is generated. When the personal identification number data is transmitted from the calling source and also when the personal identification number data is matched with the preliminarily set personal identification number in this way, the portable telephone set generates the incoming tone even when the portable telephone set is set in the silence mode.
