PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and its control method having improved efficiency in throughput and memory utilization regarding data processing by making the memory simultaneously accessible to plural different kinds of data. SOLUTION: A control unit (controller section) 110 causes simultaneous conducting of transfer to the memory of a specified amount of image data output from the scanner unit 210 that has read the image and converted into the image data, transfer of the image data stored in the memory to CODEC for image data compression, and transfer of the image data stored in the memory to the liquid crystal display of an operation unit 150. The transfer volume of the image data to CODEC is calculated, based on the data transfer speed to memory and the CODEC processing speed. The control unit executes a command to start CODEC when the image data is transferred and gives the command to show the data on the liquid crystal display of the operation unit, when a prescribed amount of image data is transferred to memory.
