PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the lack of a channeling code without using a new non- orthogonal channeling code. SOLUTION: The existent channeling code is more effectively utilized. On the side of transmission, a signal source is modulated while using the channeling code of a length corresponding to a spreading ratio. A signal generated by modulation is transmitted through a radio channel. The spreading ratio is adapted for this modulating processing. When the modulated signal is received, on the side of receiving, the spreading ratio adapted at the time of modulation is found and while using this spreading ratio, demodulation is performed.
