PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive material transporting device which is capable of preventing the occurrence of the compression set of transporting roller pairs used for a scanning exposure section and maintaining desired image quality. SOLUTION: The photosensitive material transporting device use for the scanning exposure section S for forming image by scanning exposure light L while transporting paper 2 at a prescribed speed has a transporting roller pair consisting of driving rollers 5 and 7 for transporting the paper 2 in a grasped state and press-contacting rollers 6 and 8 and changeover mechanism 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 for changing over a state that the press-contacting rollers 6 and 8 come into pressurized contact with the drive rollers 5 and 7 and a second state that press-contacting rollers 6 and 8 are parted from the drive rollers 5 and 7. The device is so constituted that the changeover mechanism 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 operate in such a manner that the transporting roller pair is set at the first state when image formation processing is executed in the scanning exposure section S and the transporting roller pair is set at a second state when the image formation processing is not executed in the scanning exposure section S.
