摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a geometrical element measuring device and method capable of high-speed processing and superior in operability. SOLUTION: The way of spreading of groups of measurement points obtained by a three coordinate measuring machine is examined and classified into the zero order to third order. On the basis of the way of spreading (0-rder to third order) of groups of measurement points and the number of measurement points, a geometric element to be measured is determined. In the case that the number of measurement points is three or more and that the way of spreading is the secondary order, it is determined whether the geometrical element is planar or circular in consideration of the direction of movement of a probe. In the case that the number of measurement points is six or more, a circular cone specified by the measurement points is computed and it is determined that the geometrical element is whether a circular cylinder or a circular cone on the basis of the value of the half vertical angle of the computed circular cone.
