PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling method of a melting/reducing rotary kiln which requires no cooling-water circulating facility, cooling-water heating facility, or cooling facility by suppressing excessive cooling on the outer surface of a body to prevent sulfuric-acid corrosion (low-temperature corrosion) of a body steel plate caused by oxidized dew, while cooling the outer surface of the body so that no water film (wet wall) is formed. SOLUTION: Related to a cooling method of melting/reducing rotary kiln 10 comprising a body 13 which rotates in a specified direction and comprises a cylindrical body steel plate 11 and a fire brick 12 lined on the internal surface of the body steel plate 11, a spraying amount of cooling water is controlled by monitoring the temperature of the outside surface of the body 13, so that a cooling water in mist is jetted to the outside surface of the body 13.
