The invention relates to a power generating installation that comprises a drive engine and a generator, especially a synchronous generator and a diesel engine. The inventive installation comprises a stationary rotor winding (28) and permanent magnets (35) disposed in the rotor (29) that induce the generator. The rotor (29) constitutes the flywheel of the diesel engine as an outer rotor and the stator (11) disposed within the rotor carries the rotor winding (28) of the generator.
