PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floppy disk drive which is inexpensive and is capable of performing mass recording by controlling the driving current of a stepping motor without using servo control in order to increase the track density of the floppy disk drive. SOLUTION: A recording and reproducing head 1 recording or reproducing data on/from a floppy disk, the stepping motor 10 moving the recording and reproducing head over the track of the floppy disk, a motor driver 11 driving the stepping motor by current caused to flow to each coil of an A phase and a B phase and a driving current switching circuit 12 switching current quantity caused to flow to each coil of the A and B phases are included, and when reproduced data read from the recording and reproducing head have an error, the recording and reproducing head is subjected to a microstepping operation by changing a current quantity balances between the A and B phases to improve the reading characteristic of the recording and reproducing head. |
