PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color picture tube and an image display device using the same which are durable against external vibration and has improved doming and low/high temperature property, and shock resistance, and has a structure easy to assemble. SOLUTION: A cathode-ray tube is provided with at least a panel formed with a phosphor screen thereon, a shadow mask 3 equipped with a plurality of electron beam passing portions and frames 1, 2 wherein the shadow mask 3 is stretched and retained with tensile force applied. The panel and the frames 1, 2 are attached to be held by an elastic support body 5 is a state the phosphor screen and shadow mask 3 are opposed. The elastic support body 5 is disposed in the central part of the frame practically, and the tension in the vicinity of the central part of the mask 3 is set to be more intense than that of edge part of the shadow mask 3.
