PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and quickly mount clips on the edges of two plates put on each other as circulate the clip for repetitive use. SOLUTION: The clip mounting device comprises a supporting means 18 for supporting a plurality of clips on two slender 20, 22 or chip aligning conveyors 70, 71 moving between a stand-by position and a gripping position and a mounting means 29 for mounting the clips on the edges of plates 1. The mounting means 29 grips and receives the clips from the bars 20, 22 or the clip aligning conveyors 70, 71 at the gripping position and mounts them, on the edges of the plates 1 after moving thereto. During mounting operation, the supporting means 18 supports the clips on the non-supported bars 20, 22 or the clip aligning conveyors 70, 71. At a clip removing station 15, the clip 2 are removed from the processed plates 1 by a clip transfer means 16 and transferred to a clip carrying device 17. The clips 2 carried to the clip carrying device 17 are supported on the bars 20, 22 or the clip aligning conveyors 70, 71 again by the supporting means 18.
