The deflection angle measurement device has an acceleration sensor (4) on the impact mechanism (3) whose electric output signal is multiplied by a correction factor corresponding to the reciprocal of the earth's acceleration to determine the deflection angle (w). A capacitive acceleration sensor is used and the signal can be transmitted to a controller for damping the deflection angle. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of determining the deflection angle of the pendulum motion of a load.
