The device has a pressure chamber (3) and an accumulator chamber (8), which is volume-adjusted by a moveable sealed adjuster wall (7). The wall is formed by a longitudinally adjustable piston. It is held sealed via a sliding ring seal (9) in one of two clamping parts (1,2) of the element. The wall is power-charged by an adjusting spring (13) esp. a gas spring, in direction of a reduction of the accumulator chamber volume. There may also be a hydraulic load, applied by the pressurized lubricant of the engine.
